Autumn, Snow & Ice
The map now shows the seasons. Trees change colour in autumn, snow lies in winter, and lakes, rivers and cold coasts freeze. The ice grows and melts with the weather.
Autumn
Trees now change colour in autumn. They turn from the middle of August and have their full colour in October. The woods stay brown through the winter and turn green again in March and April.
Pines, olive trees and other evergreen trees stay green. The grass turns a little brown too, and the light changes with the season.
- Leafy trees turn yellow, orange, red or brown. Reeds turn the colour of straw.
- About one tree in four turns late. In October it is still half green.

Snow and ice
Snow now lies on the land and in towns after it snows. It melts when the weather is warm. The water and the things you build stay clear of it.
In a cold winter, lakes, rivers and the sea can freeze. Thin new ice is dark, and the water shows through it. A few centimetres of ice make a pale sheet.

Ice from the weather
The ice comes from the weather. Open water must first cool to its freezing point: 0 °C for lakes and rivers, −1.8 °C for the sea. Then the ice grows while the air stays cold. Snow on the ice makes it grow more slowly. Warm air and the sun melt it.
- A lake freezes after one or two weeks of frost.
- A river needs more cold, because its current carries the first ice away. In spring, rivers open before the lakes.
- The sea freezes only along very cold coasts, over the shallow water near the shore.
- Boats and water birds leave water that has frozen.
- Old saves start with the ice of their climate on that day.

Big colonies run faster
Big colonies run about 9% faster at 400x. A colony in its 40th year now runs at 220x. Before, it ran at 202x.
Upgrade to the Founder edition
With the Game edition, the full game panel now offers the Founder edition for €10, the difference between the two. You keep the same code.
A question on your bug report
A bug report can now get a question back. A lamp on the Bug report key and a note on the start screen show it, and you answer it in the bug report panel. A report still carries nothing that tells who you are.
